How to Game Share on PS5?

Step-by-step

1. On your friend's PS5, create a new user or sign in with your PSN account.
2. Go to Settings (the gear icon, top right).
3. Select Users and Accounts.
4. Choose Other → Console Sharing and Offline Play.
5. Select Enable.
6. Sign out of your account (or leave it), and your friend can now sign in with their own account and play games from your digital library.

Your friend uses their own profile for trophies and saves — they don't need to stay signed in as you.

Can you game share on PS5? Yes, and it's an official Sony feature, not a workaround. Two important rules:

• You can only designate one console at a time as your shared/primary console. Enabling it on a friend's PS5 means your own console is no longer the primary one for your account, so make sure you set your own console back if you're the main player. In practice, most people set their friend's console as the shared one and keep playing on their own console while signed in online.
• Effectively, two consoles can use one library at once: the designated shared console (offline-capable) and whichever console you're personally signed in to online.

How many people can game share on PS5? Officially, one other console at a time. You can change which console it is, but you can't have several activated simultaneously.

What gets shared

• Digital games bought on your account.
• PlayStation Plus benefits — including online multiplayer and the monthly/catalogue games — for users on that console.
• Add-ons and DLC tied to your account.

What doesn't get shared: physical disc games (the disc has to be in the console), and anything with its own separate account requirement.

How to deactivate game sharing

• On that console: Settings → Users and Accounts → Other → Console Sharing and Offline Play → Disable.
• Remotely, if you no longer have access to it: sign in to your account on the PlayStation website, go to Account Settings → Device Management, and deactivate. Sony allows this once every six months, so use it carefully.

Do it only with people you trust. Whoever uses that console has access to your library and, unless you take precautions, potentially your account. Before handing over access, remove your saved payment method and set a passcode for purchases under Settings → Users and Accounts.

PS4 note: the equivalent setting on PS4 is Settings → Account Management → Activate as Your Primary PS4, and PS4 and PS5 activations are tracked separately, so you can have one of each.
