How to Draw a Girl?

Drawing a girl is much easier when you build the figure up from simple shapes and guidelines first, then add details. Use light pencil lines you can erase.

What you need: a pencil, an eraser, and paper (plus a pen/colors to finish).

Step-by-step (simple, front-facing):

1. Draw the head. Start with an oval for the head. Add a light vertical center line and a horizontal line across the middle — these guides help you place the features evenly.
2. Place the facial features. On the horizontal guide, draw the eyes (leaving about one eye-width between them). Add the nose about halfway between the eyes and chin, and the mouth below it. Add eyebrows and eyelashes.
3. Add the hair. Draw the hairline around the top of the head, then sketch the hairstyle framing the face — hair sits a little outside the oval, so give it volume.
4. Draw the neck and shoulders. Add a short neck and curve out to the shoulders (keep the neck fairly narrow).
5. Sketch the body. Use light lines for the torso, arms, and (if full-body) the waist, hips, and legs. Simple guidelines — like a line for the spine and ovals for joints — keep proportions natural.
6. Add clothes. Draw clothing over the body shape, adding folds where fabric bends.
7. Refine and finish. Darken your final lines, erase the guidelines, then add details like facial expression, hair strands, and shading. Color if you like.

Tips:

• Proportions: a common guide is that a figure is roughly 7–8 heads tall; for a stylized/cartoon look, use fewer.
• Keep early lines light so mistakes are easy to fix.
• Practice the face and eyes on their own first — they carry most of the expression.
