How to Change Screen Time Passcode?

Step by step (you know the current code)

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap Screen Time.
3. Tap Change Screen Time Passcode (near the bottom of the Screen Time screen).
4. Enter the current Screen Time passcode.
5. Enter a new passcode, then enter it again to confirm.

If you forgot the Screen Time passcode

• On newer iOS versions, after a few wrong attempts you'll see Forgot Passcode? Tap it. Authentication then uses either the device unlock passcode or the Apple ID that set Screen Time up, depending on the iOS version and whether Screen Time is tied to Family Sharing / iCloud.
• If Screen Time was set up as part of Family Sharing (a parent set the child's passcode), the parent changes it from their own device: Settings → Screen Time → tap the child's name → Change Screen Time Passcode.
• Older iOS versions sometimes required answering Apple ID security questions or restoring the device; Apple has since added the Forgot Passcode path so a restore is no longer the first option.

Screen Time passcode vs. device passcode: they are separate. Changing one does not change the other. The Screen Time passcode only unlocks Screen Time settings, app-limit overrides, and Downtime bypasses. The device passcode still unlocks the phone.

If Change Screen Time Passcode isn't showing: Screen Time may be off, or you may be looking at a child's device that a parent manages. Turn Screen Time on first, or change the code from the parent's Family Sharing screen instead.
