What the Apple user does
- Open FaceTime.
- Tap Create Link (or create a link from Messages).
- Send that URL by text, email, WhatsApp, etc.
What the Android user does
- Open the link in Chrome (or another current browser).
- Enter a display name if asked.
- Allow camera and microphone access.
- Join the call as a guest — no Apple ID required.
Limits compared with a native FaceTime call: browser guests typically can't add people the same way, SharePlay/advanced Apple effects may not work, and the call depends on the host staying in FaceTime. Video quality is usually fine on a stable connection but isn't identical to two Apple devices.
If the link doesn't work: the host's iOS/iPadOS/macOS is older than 15, the browser blocked camera/mic, or the link expired / the host ended the FaceTime. Updating Chrome and retrying with permissions allowed fixes most guest-side failures.
If you need Android-to-Android or mixed-group video without an iPhone host: use Google Meet, WhatsApp, Messenger, or Zoom instead — those have real Android apps. FaceTime-on-Android is only this guest-link path, not a standalone FaceTime account on the Play Store.
