How to Spoiler Text on Discord?

The bar method (works everywhere — desktop, browser, mobile)

1. Type your message.
2. Wrap the part you want hidden in || on both sides: The killer is ||the butler||.
3. Send. The wrapped words show as a grey/black block until someone taps them.

Desktop shortcut: highlight the text in the message box, then a small toolbar appears — click the eye / "Mark as Spoiler" button (or press Ctrl + Shift + S). It adds the bars for you.

Whole-message spoiler: start the message with /spoiler (slash command) and Discord hides the entire thing.

Spoiler an image or video: attach the file, then hover it (desktop) and click "Mark as spoiler", or on mobile tap the attachment and choose Mark as Spoiler before sending. The thumbnail shows as blurred "SPOILER" until tapped.

Common gotchas: the bars must be two characters (||), not one; no space between the bars and the text on the inside is fine either way; and code blocks (backticks) can stop spoilers from rendering, so don't nest them.
