How to Disable OneDrive?

Stop syncing (unlink) — the usual "disable"
- Click the OneDrive cloud icon in the notification area (hidden-icons arrow if you don't see it).
- Click the gear → Settings.
- Open the Account tab.
- Click Unlink this PC and confirm.
Files that were already downloaded stay on the computer; new changes no longer sync to the cloud until you sign in again.
Stop it opening at startup
- Windows Settings → Apps → Startup.
- Turn Microsoft OneDrive off.
You can also quit it from the cloud-icon menu (Pause syncing / Close OneDrive) for a temporary stop, which comes back after a reboot unless startup is disabled.
Uninstall (only if you want the app gone)
- Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Find Microsoft OneDrive → Uninstall.
On some Windows 11 Home/Pro installs, OneDrive is tightly integrated; unlinking + disabling startup is enough for most people and is easier to reverse than uninstalling.

Unlinking does not delete your files from OneDrive.com in the cloud; it only disconnects this PC.
