How Many Questions Are on the BCBA Exam?

How it's structured

• All questions are multiple choice with four options.
• Content follows the BACB's test content outline, covering areas like behaviorism and philosophical foundations, concepts and principles, measurement, experimental design, ethics, assessment, and behavior-change procedures.
• The 10 unscored items are being tested for future exams and don't affect your result.
• It's delivered by computer at an approved testing center.

Pacing: 185 questions in 240 minutes is roughly 1 minute 18 seconds per question, which is comfortable if you keep moving and flag tough ones to revisit.

Scoring: the BACB uses a scaled passing score, so passing isn't simply a fixed percentage of the 175 scored items. Results are reported as pass or fail.
