What Does 'In Transit' Mean?

When a package tracking status says "in transit," it means your shipment has left its origin (or a facility) and is on its way through the carrier's network toward the destination — but it hasn't arrived or gone out for final delivery yet.

What's actually happening:

• The package is moving between facilities — sorting centers, hubs, trucks, planes, or in the hands of the delivery network.
• It may show "in transit" for a while as it travels, and the status often updates as it's scanned at each stop along the way.
• "In transit" is a normal, healthy status — it simply means the package is en route.
